Voiko tämä olla totta? - Can This Be True?

Mummo on jo pitkään asustellut yksin. Siitä on nyt yli kaksi vuotta, kun pappa katosi metsään kirkkaanan syyspäivänä sienireissulla. Toivo papan palaamisesta on alkanut hiipua ja mummo on päässyt suurimmasta surusta yli. Tänään hän on ollut kuitenkin erityisen synkkämielinen. Joulukoristelaatikosta löytyi vanha, papan tekemä joulukalenteri, joka toi kaikki ihanat muistot mieleen. Mummon istuessa kiikkustuolissa kalenteria pidellen, ovelta kuuluu koputus. Kuka se voi olla? Mummo ei odota vieraita. Oven takana on niin suuri yllätys, että mummon sydän meinaa pysähtyä. Mitä ihmettä?! Pappa! Missä sinä olet ollut???

Granny has lived alone for a long time now. It's been over two years since grandpa vanished on a bright autumn day on his way to pick mushrooms. Hope for finding grandpa has been fading and granny has gotten over the worst sadness. However, today she's been particularly sorrowful. She found an old advent calendar from her Christmas decoration box. It was made by grandpa and it brought up all the good memories. Granny sat on her rocking chair holding the advent calendar when she heard a knock on the door. Who can it be? Granny isn't expecting any visitors. What a surprise there is behind the door. Granny almost had an heart attack. What an earth?! Grandpa! Where have you been???

Voi mikä syksy - What an Autumn

Kuvittelin saavani jouluun mennessä Mansión de la Extrañon seinät pystyyn, mutta toisin kävi. Kuvittelin myös ehtiväni tehdä hyvissä ajoin vaihtamani adventtiluukut ja pari joulukalenteriluukkua, mutta toisin kävi. Ensin loukkasin vasemman (onneksi olen oikeakätinen) käteni töissä ja se on ollut kipsattuna jonkun aikaa. Siihen päälle jouduin/pääsin vielä leikkaukseen, josta olen nyt toipumassa parasta aikaa. Ei siis olisi voinut olla yhtään huonompaa aikaa mineilyn suhteen! Laitan nyt kuitenkin tähän pari kuvaa ennen tuota työtapaturmaa edistyneestä talon kehikosta ja Mummon mökkiin tekemistäni pikkuruisista rintamamiestalosta :) Jospa kohta pääsisin taas työntouhuun :) Ai niin melkein unohtui, onhan minulla Mansión de la Extrañoon uusi asukaskin. Hänestä lisää hiukan myöhemmin ;)

I thought that I would get the walls of Mansión de la Extraño ready by Christmas but it didn't happen. I also thought that I would have lots and lots of time to get my few advent and Christmas calendar doors ready but it didn't happen. First of all I hurt my left (luckily I'm right handed) hand at work and it's been in cast for a while. In addition I had/got to go to a surgery so I'm currently recovering from that. This couldn't have been any worse time considering miniature making! Anyway, I'm going to put here couple pics about the progress before my occupational accident and also about two tiny houses which I made to Granny's Cottage :) Maybe I'll get to mini-work soon :) Oh, I almost forget, I have a new resident for Mansión de la Extraño. More about him/her? a little bit later ;)

Mummo muuttaa taloon - Granny Is Moving In

Mökki on vihdoin valmis!!! Tai no portaat  yläkertaan puuttuvat, mutta ei mummon tarvitse sinne vielä päästä ;) Paljoa tavaraa ei vielä ole, mutta pakkohan sinne oli jo jotain laittaa. Eihän mummo suinkaan tyhjään mökkiin voinut muuttaa. Keittiöstä lähtee "modernit" keittiö kalusteet aikanaan, mutta toistaiseksi nuo saavat olla siellä.

The Cottage is finally ready!!! Well, there are no stairs to second floor but there's no need to go there yet ;) There isn't much stuff yet but I had to put something inside. Granny couldn't move to an empty house, could she. I'll get rid of all the "modern" kitchenware at some point but I'll leave those in for a while.

Nopea päivitys mummon mökistä - A Quick Update About Granny's Cottage

Mökki on saanut ikkunanpuitteita ja kattolistoja. Vielä pari juttua huomenna ja mökki on valmis! :)

The cottage has got some window frames and roof trims. Just couple things tomorrow and it's ready! :)

Ja pakko kai mainita, että ostin TAAS uuden projektin... :D Tässäpä se on.

And I think I have to mention that I bought YET another project... :D Here it is.

Päivitys mummon mökistä - Update about Granny's Cottage

On vierähtänyt aikaa siitä, kun olen viimeksi työstänyt mummon mökkiä. Se on edelleen hilkkua vaille valmis ja tuntuu, että viimeiset silaukset vievät enemmän aikaa kuin laki sallii :/ Joka tapauksessa projekti etenee! Katselin yksi ilta mökin sisäkattoa ja tulin siihen tulokseen, että olin hutiloinut liikaa ja jättänyt katon keskeneräiseksi, koska en sitä kattoa tehdessä jaksanut ilmeisesti tehdä kunnolla. Tein siis niin, että irrotin koko katon ja laudoitin sisäpuolen uusiksi. Aikaisemminhan katto näytti siltä, kuin se ei edes kuuluisi mökkiin, koska sisäkattona oli pelkkää tylsää kovalevyä. Nyt kun katon sisäpinta on uusittu, olen taas tyytyväinen :) Kyllä kannatti! Vielä olisi kattopäreiden tekoa jäljellä (eivätkö ne lopu koskaan!!!), mutta taidan aloittaa jo sisustuksen ennen katon lopullista valmistumista ;) Tässä pari kuvaa uusitusta sisäkatosta.

It's been a while since I've worked with Granny's Cottage. It's still unfinished and it feels like the finishing touches are taking more time than it should :/ Anyway the project is making progress! I looked at the cottage's ceiling the other night and I realized that I had left it incomplete because I was too lazy when I was making it. So this is what I did; I took the whole roof apart from the house and I covered the ceiling with boards. Earlier the ceiling looked like it wasn't part of the house at all. That's because it was made of plain, simple hardboard. Now that the ceiling is renewed I'm happy again :) It was worth it! I have to make some roof shingles still (aren't they ever going to end!!!) but I think I'll start furnishing/decorating before the roof is ready ;) Here are a couple of pics about the ceiling.

Katto valmistuu - The Roof Is Getting Finished

Olen taas päässyt takaisin mineilyn pariin. Olen jatkanut mummonmökin tekoa ja nyt alkaakin hommat olla jo hyvällä mallilla. Sain yläkerran väliseinän tehtyä ja katonkin paikoilleen. Enää on vuorossa kattopäreiden kiinnitys. Se onkin kärsivällisyyttä vaativaa hommaa. Nuo kattopäreen ovat kyllä olleet yksi maanvaiva! Niitä on loputon määrä. Tässäpä pari kuvaa edistymisestäni.

I've started to do mini things again. I've continued making the Granny's Cottage and things are starting to be in good shape. I made the upstairs partition and got the roof on it's place. I still have to get those roof shingles in place. That requires some patience from me. I'm sorry for being so outspoken but those shingles are a pain in my butt!!! There are endless amount of them. Here are few pics about my progress.

Mummon neliöitä - Grannys squares

Onnistuin telomaan oikean käteni ja se on nyt kantositeessä. Kättä ei voi kunnolla käyttää, enkä voi siis tehdä mäkin rakennustöitä. Jotakin pientä oli kuitenkin pakko alkaa näpräämään, joten päädyin tekemään mummon neliöitä :) Mitähän näistä tekisi? Mummo ei vielä tiedä varmasti, mitä haluaa.. ;)

I managed to hurt my right hand and it's now on a arm sling. I can't use my hand properly so making any construction work to the cottage is out of question. I just had to do something, even a little bit, so I started doing grannys squares. What  could I make of these? Granny isn't sure yet what she wants.. ;)

Mummonmökin petsaus sisältä - Staining the inside of the Granny's Cottage

Otetaanpa uusiksi. Kirjoitin eilen blogitekstin, jonka onnistuin kadottamaan tänään. Eli petsasin mummonmökin sisältä. Tuli hieman tummempi kuin piti, mutta silti se on ihan hyvä. Seuraavaksi vuorossa katto. Minun pitäisi tehdä yli 900 kattopärettä. Saa nähdä, miten selviän siitä :)

Take two. I wrote a blog text yesterday and I managed to lost it somewhere. So I stained the inside of my Granny's Cottage. It's a bit darker than it was supposed to be but it's still nice. The roof is next in turn. I have to make over 900 shingles. Let's see how I'll survive from that :)
