Taukoa mineilystä - A Break From Miniatures

Tämä vuosi on mennyt hujahtaen aina kesään saakka niin, etten ole saanut aikaiseksi juuri mitään minirintamalla. Koko ajan on ollut tarkoitus ja olen ottanut tarvikkeitakin esille, mutta hyvin vähäiseksi on tekeminen jäänyt. Nyt tekisi taas mieleni jatkaa rakennusprojektia oikein kunnolla, joten jospa blogiinkin ilmestyisi tilannekatsausta lähiakoina :) Ihan jotain pientä olen saanut aikaiseksi. Tässä niistä jotain...

This year has been so busy all the way to this summer that I haven't had the chance to do almost anything on the miniature side. I've been planning to do this and that and I've taken all my materials out and ready for many times but always something came up. Now I'm in that point that I really want to continue my construction work so there might be something coming up soon on my blog as well :) I've made little something however...

Vanha talo sai asukkaat - The Old House Got Residents

Vanhaan taloon muutti vihdoin pieni perhe :) He ovat saaneet taloon myös hieman lisää kalusteita :) Nimiä heillä ei vielä ole, mutta ehkä keksin ne jossain vaiheessa!

A small family moved to my old house. They have also gotten some new furniture :) They don't have any names yet but maybe I'll figure something out!

Along with Advent doors I also switched 23th and 24th doors. Here are pics about those :)  And AGAIN I forgot to take pics about those minis which I made. I just hope that Tiia and Mira will put those in their own blogs. Here's some of what I sent... :)

Adventtikalenteri - Advent Calendar

Tänä vuonna en tehnyt kokonaista joulukalenteria, vaan pelkästään adventtipäivien ja jouluaaton luukut. Onneksi näin, koska syksyn aikana on ollut niin paljon terveydellisiä esteitä, etten ole paljon pystynyt minejä tekemään. Vaihdoin adventtiluukut Tiian kanssa ja tässä ensimmäisestä luukusta paljastunutta :)

I didn't make a whole Christmas calendar this year but just the Advent-day and Christmas Eve doors. Fortunately only those five doors, because my health has been so poor this fall that I haven't had a chance to make miniatures almost at all. I changed these five doors with Tiia and here is door number 1 :)

Voi mikä syksy - What an Autumn

Kuvittelin saavani jouluun mennessä Mansión de la Extrañon seinät pystyyn, mutta toisin kävi. Kuvittelin myös ehtiväni tehdä hyvissä ajoin vaihtamani adventtiluukut ja pari joulukalenteriluukkua, mutta toisin kävi. Ensin loukkasin vasemman (onneksi olen oikeakätinen) käteni töissä ja se on ollut kipsattuna jonkun aikaa. Siihen päälle jouduin/pääsin vielä leikkaukseen, josta olen nyt toipumassa parasta aikaa. Ei siis olisi voinut olla yhtään huonompaa aikaa mineilyn suhteen! Laitan nyt kuitenkin tähän pari kuvaa ennen tuota työtapaturmaa edistyneestä talon kehikosta ja Mummon mökkiin tekemistäni pikkuruisista rintamamiestalosta :) Jospa kohta pääsisin taas työntouhuun :) Ai niin melkein unohtui, onhan minulla Mansión de la Extrañoon uusi asukaskin. Hänestä lisää hiukan myöhemmin ;)

I thought that I would get the walls of Mansión de la Extraño ready by Christmas but it didn't happen. I also thought that I would have lots and lots of time to get my few advent and Christmas calendar doors ready but it didn't happen. First of all I hurt my left (luckily I'm right handed) hand at work and it's been in cast for a while. In addition I had/got to go to a surgery so I'm currently recovering from that. This couldn't have been any worse time considering miniature making! Anyway, I'm going to put here couple pics about the progress before my occupational accident and also about two tiny houses which I made to Granny's Cottage :) Maybe I'll get to mini-work soon :) Oh, I almost forget, I have a new resident for Mansión de la Extraño. More about him/her? a little bit later ;)

Mansión de la Extraño?

Sain aloitettua isoimman projektini oikein kunnolla ja se etenee kovaa vauhtia. Mietin josko sen nimi tulisi olemaan Mansión de la Extraño. Nimeä on hankala päättää, koska lopputulos on vielä hyvin sekavana pääni sisällä... Tässä kuitenkin kuvia työn aloituksesta.

I got my biggest project going and it's proceeding quite fast. I was wondering if I'd call it Mansión de la Extraño. It's hard to decide the name because the final outcome is so messy in my head... Here are some pics about starting the work.

Vanha Lundby/Lisa - Old Lundby/Lisa

Pitkästä aikaa... Sain hankittua itselleni 70-luvun Lundbyn/Lisan, joka oli sen verran hyvässä kunnossa, etten nähnyt tarvetta tehdä siihen remonttia. Olen siis suoraan alkanut kalustaa sitä :) Tässä muutama kuva alkaneesta uudesta projektista, vaikka vanhatkin projektit ovat edelleen kesken :D

Long time no see... I got myself a seventies Lundby/Lisa. It was in so good condition that I didn't see any need to repair it in any way. So I've started to furnish it :) Here are few pics about my new project even though all my old projects are still unfinished :D

Vapun juhlintaa - Celebrating May day

Vappua juhlitaan joka vuosi ja nyt oli taas sen aika. MJ pääsi siis luonnollisesti juhlistamaan vappua uusien ystäviensä kanssa :) Grillausta, makoisaa ruokaa ja juomaa sekä hyvä seura! Tässä hieman tunnelmia vietetyistä juhlista. Toivottavasti ei mennyt kovin myöhään ;)

Perinteisesti suomalaiseen vappuun kuuluu myös ilmapallot, sima ja tippaleivät. Jälleen siis uusia makuja muistoksi MJ:lle :)


May Day / Walpurgis night / The first of May is celebrated every year and now was the time for it. MJ got to celebrate it with her new friends :) Some barbecue, tasteful food and drinks and good company! Here are some feelings from the party. I hope they didn't celebrate too late ;)

Traditional Finnish May Day includes balloons, mead and funnel cake (sorry, I'm too lazy to write about those now so I put links on each of the terms if you're interested to read more about those). Some new flavors for MJ to memorize :)

Pääsiäisviikonloppu - The Easter Weekend

Pikainen postaus pääsiäisestä. Pääsiäisviikonloppu meni rauhallisissa merkeissä. Olimme kotona ja vietimme yhteistä aikaa perheen kesken. MJ pääsi maistelemaan mämmiä ensimmäistä kertaa ja oli sanaton :D Tarjosin mämmin kera vaniljakastiketta ja lopulta MJ oli sitä mieltä, että vaikka mämmi olikin aluksi outoa, oli se lopulta ihan hyvää. Lisäksi MJ halusi avata muutaman yllätysmunankin :)

Just a quick post about Easter. Easter weekend went quietly and smoothly. We were at home and spent some quality time with the family. MJ tasted malted rye/rye pudding (traditional Finnish Easter dessert made from rye flour) for the first time and she was speechless :D I served the "pudding" with vanilla sauce and though MJ said that it was a bit weird at first, still and all it was rather good. MJ opened a couple of surprise eggs too :)
